The 14th Annual NFL Honors ceremony took place on February 6, 2025, at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, recognizing the exceptional talents and achievements from the 2024 NFL season. Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the event celebrated players, coaches, and moments that defined the year.
Most Valuable Player (MVP):
The MVP award was a tight race between quarterbacks Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Both delivered outstanding performances throughout the season, leading their teams to impressive records. The winner was announced during the ceremony, highlighting the player's significant impact on the league.
Offensive Player of the Year:
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was honored as the Offensive Player of the Year. After joining the Eagles following a six-year tenure with the New York Giants, Barkley led the league with 2,005 regular-season rushing yards and totaled 2,447 yards including the playoffs, nearing Terrell Davis's record. His stellar performance was instrumental in the Eagles achieving a 14-3 record and a Super Bowl appearance.
Defensive Player of the Year:
Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II earned the Defensive Player of the Year award. In his fourth year, Surtain showcased exceptional coverage skills, contributing to his team's defensive strength. His efforts were recognized as pivotal in the Broncos' defensive strategies throughout the season.
Offensive Rookie of the Year:
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was nearly unanimously selected as the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Daniels made a significant impact in his debut season, demonstrating poise and skill that belied his rookie status.
Defensive Rookie of the Year:
Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse was overwhelmingly chosen as the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Verse led in various defensive statistics, showcasing his prowess on the field and solidifying his role as a key defensive player for the Rams.
Comeback Player of the Year:
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow won the AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year after returning from a wrist injury to lead the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns during the 2024 season. Burrow played all 17 games, completing 70.6% of his passes for 4,913 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also set a record for passing for over 250 yards and three or more touchdowns in eight straight games.
Coach of the Year:
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was recognized for leading his team to a 14-3 record during a season that was initially considered a rebuild. His leadership and strategic acumen were pivotal in the Vikings' impressive performance throughout the year.
Assistant Coach of the Year:
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson received the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year award. His innovative offensive strategies significantly contributed to the Lions' performance, earning him this well-deserved recognition.
Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025:
The ceremony also celebrated the induction of four new members into the Pro Football Hall of Fame: defensive end Jared Allen, wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, cornerback Eric Allen, and tight end Antonio Gates. Notably, this year's class is the smallest in over two decades, a result of more stringent selection rules.
